Ever heard of the “famous forty”? It is a series of Oz books written by L. Frank Baum deriving from the original The Wonderful Wizard of Oz; he wrote thirteen novel sequels based on the places and people of the Land of Oz.
Reading books before or soon after a screenplay is all the rage now but have you read the original Oz? People are familiar with the movie than with the book, since the original book and series are among the most original works in American literature.
You could spend a whole year traveling back in time, sharing with your children what imagination and dreaming is all about; an innocent we’ve all known.The way the text bursts with color, the tale allows for a perfect bedtime reading – it’s a small mini story, with a climax and happy resolution, and it reads dreamy out loud.
