Why I Love Wednesdays…Favorite Book Sent/ Received
Mocha Girl Alexis from Reflections of a Bookaholic started a Wednesday Meme called Why I Love Wednesday. What is a Meme you ask? According to wikipedia…The term “Internet meme” refers to a catchphrase or concept that spreads rapidly from person to person via the Internet, largely through Internet-based email, blogs, forums, Imageboards, social networking sites and instant messaging. Basically, a topic from the meme host (Alexis) is posted on participating blogs with blog authors (me) answering it on their site (here).
The topic this Wednesday is…Favorite Book Sent/ Recieved.
First, let me give you the small back story on the book I have selected. Some of you know I freelance, so I meet new co-workers all the time. Well, one gig I had (years ago) the boss started a fun weekly office thing for us to do to… just have fun. It was called Way Cool Wednesday and basically everyone in the department had to share one thing on the internet they thought was “Way Cool” to everyone else. Every week we would get to see cool videos, new gaming sites, blogs and of course tons of Etsy shops. (Cause everything on Etsy is Way Cool!)
Anyways, I took this onto another gig this year and one co-worker, Victoria shared a blog called thxthxthx.com …This blog is amazing!
There’s always something to be thankful for. From the important things like Songs You’re Embarrassed to Like, and Heavy Eyelids that Tell You When You Need to Sleep, to friends and family, love and loneliness, light and darkness, Leah Dieterich sets out to acknowledge them all. thxthxthx is her daily exercise in gratitude.
Leah is currently a creative director and writer at an advertising agency, and her work has been featured in Archive, the One Show, the Effies and more. Her short film Prioritaire, about a series of confessional letters that form a relationship of sorts, was an official selection at the AFI Dallas Film Festival among others. She is proud to have a story in the new book Cassette From my Ex: Stories and Soundtracks of Lost Loves, which was published in Oct 2009 by St. Martin’s Press. She lives and works in Los Angeles.
Here are a few samples of the thx notes on her site.
So why am I going on and on about a blog well… Leah’s blog is a book. YES!!! A book of funny and meaningful thank you notes in her handwriting called “thxthxthx: Thank Goodness for Everything”. I thought this book would be the perfect Secret Santa gift. So I sent the book along with a box of thank you notes and some warm fuzzy slippers. I loved holding and reading the book so much before I mailed it, I went back to the store and bought another one. I had no plans for the second book until now…
