Obviously, reading is the best hobby ever, and as all book, lovers know, something that you can never spend too much time doing. The act of reading and books generally mean so many different things to different people; books can be a way of escaping into your own little fantasy world for a short while, or they can be the ultimate motivational tool, leaving you feeling inspired and ready to make some significant changes in your life.
And to quote Frederick Douglass, “Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.”
At every book club, you will find a whole host of different reader types, but all share one common interest: A hunger for knowledge and a passion for reading.
So, you know that you love to read, but which of these reader types are you?
The Devourer
The Devourer is the kind of person that gets stuck into a book and just cannot put it down. A Devourer type will be at the front of the queue camping out at the bookstore when the latest installment in their favorite book series is due to be released. Once they’ve got their hands on their latest must-have read, they won’t put it down until they’ve finished it, even if it means staying up all night long.
The Read Anything and Everything
As their name implies, the Read Anything and Everything reader will read anything and everything. The Read Anything and Everything reader wants to be in the know, so will read whatever they can get their hands on; physical books, social media feeds, the backs of cereal boxes… the list goes on. They love the constant flow of content that social media supplies, and will like tweets from this model and follow blogs from that celebrity to satisfy their thirst for information.
The Self Help Guru
The Self Help Guru type always has a motivational quote on hand to inspire you and is a mine of information on everything self-improvement related. From ancient wisdom through to the very latest behavioral theory, this person has read about it, lived it and got the t-shirt to prove it. The Self Help Guru reader is the friend that’s always there for you in a crisis, offering a shoulder to cry on, and of course, a useful book to read to help you through it.
The Savourer
For the Savourer, books mean more than merely reading; they are an event to be luxuriated over. The Savourer reading type will carefully plan what they are going to read and await the opportunity to get started with joyful anticipation. The Savourer typically has a cozy spot to read in, somewhere that they can snuggle up and enjoy every single page in comfort. For the Savourer, reading a book is an event not to be hurried. Instead, it’s one to take your time over and look forward too. You will usually find the Savourer curled up on a comfy chair completely immersed in what they are reading, accompanied by a pot of tea, or freshly brewed coffee to complete their sensory experience.
What type of reader are you?
