Sightseeing
While there is a lot of joy to be had by going it alone, the people who really know the city can give you a tour that you aren’t likely to beat. A popular option is bus tours, where you can hop on and off and look around. There are so many tours it can be hard to find the right one, but you can compare multiple NYC tours here.
Skyline
There is nothing as breathtaking as the new york skyline. There are a few places that you can go to get an unbeatable view. The Empire State Building, Top of the Rock, and the Rockefeller Center or the One World Observatory. There are varying admission prices, and the views are different too. So if you have time during your trip, you should try to book tickets for all of them.
Shows
There is a reason that so many people go to New York to see the shows. You can find lists of which broadway shows are on when you are in the city. There are options to get discounted tickets, and you can even win some. Getting yourself some broadway tickets should be a must on your list while you are there.
Memorial
One of the most tragic things to happen to any city has been memorialized. The National September 11th Museum has a range of documents, film, artifacts, and more. There is a cost of visiting here. If you head to Lower Manhattan, there is a free memorial site that is in a large and spacious plaza. This one is free to visit. There are also tours and tour passes available for the museum. This one can be pretty emotional, so try not to plan too much after.
Boat Ride
There are many single ride tourist boats that you can take a ride on, or you can opt for something that is a little more glam. A number of boat trips have nighttime rides that include dinner and music. It is rather spectacular to see the lights of the city glimmering off of the inky water.
Central Park
Perhaps one of the most famous parks in the world. And, while you are walking around it, you might be tempted to forget you are in the middle of an incredibly busy city. There is plenty to do here too. Huge trees provide shade for when you are finished walking for a while, sculptures are dotted around the park as well as lakes, zoos, and ponds.
There is so much to do in New York City, these are just the tip of the iceberg. A quick search online will give you more ideas and even more to do. You’ll have to make multiple visits! Here are a few books to help you discover more of what that Big Apple has to offer.
