“Without Equal” is based on the love story of Colby and Kathleen Cole. A charismatic couple who met in the ’60s. The book follows their unmatched love story through Colby’s persistence in courting her, the “mysterious” death of her then-husband, their marriage less than three months later, and Colby’s rapid rise and role in history as he starts his own company and develops relationships with the likes of the former speaker of the house, Willie Brown, current Senator Dianne Feinstein, former IBM President Frank Cary, Bill Gates, Ted Turner, former San Francisco Mayor George Moscone, and former San Francisco City Councilman Harvey Milk. As well as the events that shaped and molded the country in the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s including the assassination of Moscone and Milk, the development of the Gay Rights legislation, Brown and Feinstein’s political rise, the tech world explosion, the birth of cable broadcasting and the homeless epidemic in the Bay Area. However more than anything, the book focuses on the unmatched, never-ending love of Colby and Kathleen. From poor to rich, from being healthy to being sick, as their family grows and they rise as an African American family of wealth and prominence, that love, never changes.
Meet the Author
Christian C. Pauline worked as a senior level communications executive for more than 20 years, after college, before deciding to pursue a full-time career as an author. Pauline has shared a love of writing since age 8 when he had his first poem published. It was a poem he wrote for his mother. Pauline wrote his first “book/screenplay” at age 12 and actually mailed it to Universal Studios, in hopes they would make a movie out of it. It did not get made. Pauline, makes his home in the San Francisco Bay Area and is an avid traveler, art collector, wine connoisseur, jazz enthusiast and anything that has to do with his children.
