Welcome, Jessica. Thank you so much for joining us today and for being our 3rd author. We have a few questions we would love to ask you. The rules are simple. You MUST answer 10 questions. You can pass at any time and we will pull another question but you must answer 10 of them. OK! Here we go.
MGR: First question, does writing energize or exhaust you?
JS: I think writing can be a little bit of both. Overall, writing energizes me because I know my journey will help empower and teach someone. That fuels my me to keep going.
MGR: What are common traps for aspiring writers?
JS: Common traps for aspiring writers are lack of confidence, organization skills, and not having a great support system. I think it’s important for aspiring writers to build a strong foundation before you get started. Who are you? What motivates you?
MGR: Motivation is real!! This one is a light question. As a writer, what would you choose as your mascot/avatar/spirit animal?
JS: My spirit animal is a Hummingbird. Hummingbirds are full of lightness, connection, and speed. When hummingbirds come into your life, it is a sign of connection, playfulness, and adaptability.

MGR: A hummingbird. I love that!! What does literacy success look like to you?
JS: Literacy success would mean getting my book in the hands of dreamers, doers, people who need support. I want my journey to inspire men and women to be resilient and to learn the power of networking effectively.
MGR: What do you think is the best way to market your book?
JS: Have a marketing plan for social media, email marketing, go on book tours or have a book signing. Have a contest or giveaway, email platform like yours and also be mindful of calendar events.
MGR: What did you edit out of this book? What parts are on the editing room floor?
JS: LOL, this is such a great question. I edited out parts that were too emotional.
MGR: What is the most difficult part of your artistic process?
JS: Having a positive mindset, believing in myself, and balancing time.
MGR: AMEN Sis to all that! Does your family support your career as a writer?
JS: They are super supportive and spiritual people.
MGR: How many hours a day do you write?
JS: In the beginning, I was writing nonstop but I eventually reduced it to 2 hours a day.
MGR: Do you believe in writers block? Have you had it?
JS: I think naming something gives it too much power. When I couldn’t write or lacked ideas I would play my favorite reggae artist Beres Hammond and relaxed.
MGR: Thank you so much, Jessica, for joining us today and for answering all our questions. Any last words and let our readers know how to get in touch with you.
JS: Thank you Mocha Girls Read for the opportunity to share my Journey with your readers. This is truly an amazing platform.
