Today we are welcoming the pro Mocha Girl Book Blogger who is behind the blog Sort of Beautiful. Give a big Mocha Girls Read welcome to …
Jade Boudwin
Jade is a book blogger from NC. She will be celebrating the one year anniversary of her blog this March. She has been reading since the age of four and building websites since the age of sixteen. SortofBeautiful.com is the product of merging her two loves. In her spare time she loves to read, watch tv, catch a movie, and hang out with friends and family.
MGR: Thank you so much Jade for taking time to do this interview for Mocha Girls Read. So tell us, why did you start your blog?
JB: Well I’ve always had some website running since I was in eleventh grade, I love to build websites. But this time I wanted something that I could keep going and be passionate about. Something that I’d never run out of material for. Being that I love books and am always reading, a book blog was perfect for me. It gives me something to do while meeting new people and finding fabulous new books.
MGR: Wow since the eleventh grade. So overall how long have you been blogging?
JB: I say I’ve been online and blogging in some shape form or fashion for about 15 years now. Since I was about 16 or 17 years old.
MGR: What are somethings you have learned since you started blogging?
JB: I learned that nothing is constant. The internet, technology, and people are always changing and evolving and if you don’t want to fall behind it’s best to at least have a working knowledge of it all. Or know someone who does.
MGR: Just wondering, where did you get the name of your blog “Sort of Beautiful” from?
JB: The name of my blog comes from my favorite quote about my favorite character. I do love Jacob Black and at one point Bella tells him he’s “Sort of Beautiful”. I loved how that sounded and thought it would make a good site name. Looked it up and it was available so I bought it and SOB.com was born.
MGR: What are you reading now, Jade?
JB: I just finished Divergent by Veronica Roth, which was awesome, so right now I’m reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson.
MGR: Who are some of your favorite authors?
JB: Beverly Jenkins, Francis Ray, Jude Deveraux, and J.K Rowling are a few of my favorite authors.
MGR: Jade can you tell us, what is the big deal about blogging about books?
JB: I think it’s just a great way to hare your love or hatred of a particular book. There are so many people who love to read who have no one in their lives to share that passion with because their friends and family aren’t readers and could care less. Blogging allows you to get those feelings out, and to connect with like minded people. It’s really a win win.
